As a entrepreneur or coach, one of the most rewarding aspects of your profession is witnessing your clients' growth and transformation throughout your business journey. However, just as important as the working relationship is how you wrap up a client relationship. A thoughtful and strategic wrap-up can leave a lasting positive impression and open doors to future opportunities. Let’s walk through effectively wrapping up your client relationship at the end of a contract.
1. Closing Email/Letter
Your wrap-up should begin with a closing email or letter to your client. This communication should summarize your coaching journey and a heartfelt thank-you note for their commitment and trust. It should also provide a clear timeline for the wrap-up process and any next steps.
2. Share What Was Accomplished
Start by summarizing the accomplishments and milestones achieved during your coaching sessions. Highlight the goals that were met, skills that were developed, and any positive changes in your client's life. Use specific examples and anecdotes to illustrate their progress.
3. Testimonial Request
Encourage your client to share their feedback and experience through a testimonial. A well-crafted testimonial can serve as social proof and help attract future clients. Provide clear instructions on submitting a testimonial, and consider offering a template or guiding questions to make it easier for your client.
One of my favorite things is asking the client to do a testimonial video. I schedule the call for an hour so we can record the video, and in the second half of the call I do a 30-minute coaching call as a thank you for taking the time to record the video.
4. Referral Program
Invite your client to participate in your referral program. If they found value in your coaching, they may also know others who could benefit. Offer incentives or rewards for successful referrals and explain how the program works.
5. Additional Ways to Work Together in the future
Let your client know that your support doesn't have to end with the coaching sessions. Offer ways to continue working together, such as maintenance sessions, group coaching programs, workshops, or ongoing email or voxer support. Tailor these options to align with your client's specific needs and preferences.
6. Accessing Files from Coaching Relationship
Ensure your client can access any files or resources shared during your time together. Please provide them with clear instructions on retrieving these materials through a shared online platform or via email.
7. Resources
As a token of appreciation, grant your client access to your exclusive resources library. This can include valuable tools, worksheets, e-books, or guides that can continue to support their personal and professional growth.
I love to invite my clients on to the Attract & Stand Out with Darlene Hawley podcast to share their journey.
8. Collaboration Opportunities
If your client has expertise or insights that could benefit your audience, invite them to collaborate on projects like podcasts, webinars, or co-authored articles. This not only showcases their expertise but also strengthens your professional relationship.
The art of wrapping up a working client relationship goes beyond just saying goodbye. It's an opportunity to leave a lasting impression, foster future collaboration, and provide ongoing support.
Following these steps will ensure your clients remember their coaching journey with you as a positive and transformative experience.
Remember, a thoughtful wrap-up can lead to satisfied clients and a network of advocates and collaborators who can help grow your business.
